Changes

Authors Note: This is my character development.

In the book lock Down the main character is Alex, he is a stupid kid. He was stealing from people and breaking into houses and one night that all changed, he was framed for murder. After the sentencing he was sent to the gruesome prison called the Furnace. Alex was a very weak and tall he was not very bright. But when you have a 10 years to serve in prison you have a lot of time to think.

When Alex was in the Furnace he was trying to escape but he didn’t know how he was trying to break open the doors and distract the guards. As story goes on he gets more knowledge about the way the Furnace works. Alex uses the gasoline in the kitchen that he uses to light the burners to make food on kitchen duty and fills the rubber gloves he uses and fills them with gasoline and then stuffs them in his jumpsuit. Every day him and his roommate bring back five each and in a week they will crawl through the heating vent and then blow through the wall.

After the week went by he thought that if he gets more people to help him they could have a bigger explosion with more gas filled gloves which is smarter. One of the things throughout the story is he gets way smarter with his decision making. After the week he got two more people and they got doubled the amount of gloves. They followed through the plan and they blew the wall and they got out.

In this book I can connect to another book I read and it is Holes. In the book holes the kids are at a prison but they are digging holes and they are all criminals. In the book holes Zero runs away and Stanley decides to go out and look for him. It is just like the book Lock Down they run away and Zero and Stanley get better at making choices just like Alex and his cell mate.

In the end the way Alex’s make his decisions is smarter and helps him escape but he will face way more tough life changing decisions. And in Camp Green Lake where holes takes place or the Furnace you have a lot of time to think about your next move.
