Authors Note- This is my theme essay and I tried to work on good sentence structure.
Family
is the theme in this novel. People can learn from their mistakes, but
the people that have bad families and no support will end right back up
in the Camp digging holes. In the book Holes written by Louis Sachar, readers will see in some cases kids need support and structure growing up to make the right choices.
The young men at Camp Green Lake did the crime and now are
doing the time. All the kids are not smart enough to think the consequences
through their brains. However they learn by digging holes in the 110 degree
weather for five years instead. Almost all the young men have very bad home
life this results in no parents this can relate to the book The Outsiders. The
Curtis brothers had no parents to be their role models growing up same with
many of the kids at the camp. Some of the kids have parents but are not good parents and are doing drugs and drinking.
When the criminals come home they have no support they end
up back on the streets doing bad things, and they end right back in prison or
Camp Green Lake. Due to no family support they turn right back into criminals.
I can relate to real life prisons people are sentence over 5 years and they
turn to big bad criminals. So they have been in jail so long they and are surrounded around bad people.
Unlike Stanley he knows what he did, so he is making
decisions of what to do in the camp. Then when he leaves he knows to make go
decisions. Then he won’t end up back in
the prisons and committing more crimes. Plus Stanley has a good home life with
supportive parents and family.
In Holes and in The Outsiders the kids have no
home life you will have problems done the line in life. That means that kids need to have support growing up.
